Product & Comparison

Is Competitor Price Alerts better than Prisync?

For small and mid-size ecommerce stores, yes. Prisync starts at $99/month and is built for enterprise teams managing thousands of product SKUs. Competitor Price Alerts starts at $19/month and is designed for Shopify and DTC brands that need to track a handful of key competitors — not run a pricing operation.

You get daily automated checks, email alerts when prices change, and a full price history dashboard. No enterprise sales call, no minimum contract. If you're tracking fewer than 50 competitor URLs and want to spend under $25/month, this is the right tool. See our full Prisync vs. CompetitorPriceAlerts comparison →

How does CompetitorPriceAlerts work?

Three steps: add URLs, wait for the daily check, get alerts.

You paste competitor product page URLs into your dashboard. Every morning at 6:00 AM UTC, our scraper visits each URL, pulls the current price, and compares it to the last reading. If the price changed beyond your set threshold (e.g., any change, or ≥5%), you get an email alert that morning. Your dashboard shows the full price history for every URL you're tracking — so you can see whether a competitor is trending down, running a sale, or just nudged prices up.

Coverage & Compatibility

Can I track prices from Amazon, eBay, or Walmart?

Yes, for publicly accessible product pages. Our scraper supports Amazon, eBay, Walmart, Shopify stores, WooCommerce sites, and most standard retail product pages that display a price without requiring a login.

A few caveats: Amazon's pricing is highly dynamic and varies by region, account, and time of day. We capture what the scraper sees at 6 AM UTC. Pages that require login, use heavy JavaScript rendering, or actively block scrapers may return errors — your dashboard will flag these so you know immediately rather than silently missing data.

If a specific URL is causing problems, contact support and we'll investigate. Our scraper uses a multi-method extraction approach with fallback strategies to handle most modern retail page formats.

How often do you check competitor prices?

Once per day, every day, at 6:00 AM UTC. You get a fresh morning snapshot of what changed overnight — which is when most pricing changes go live.

This is intentional. Hourly scraping triggers bot detection on most retail sites, which means your data becomes unreliable. One solid daily check with high accuracy beats unreliable polling every hour. For the vast majority of pricing decisions — adjusting your own prices, spotting sales, watching a competitor's discount pattern — daily data is exactly what you need.

What happens when a competitor's product goes out of stock?

The scraper records an out-of-stock or null-price event for that day's check. Your dashboard displays the status change — you'll see the gap in price history where the product was unavailable, and the timestamp when it came back in stock.

Out-of-stock events are stored in your price history alongside normal price data. This is useful intelligence: knowing when a competitor runs out of stock tells you about their inventory patterns, gives you a window to capture their demand, and helps you understand whether a price drop preceded the stockout.
